Women's Health & Fertility

Midwife Bekah, LM CPM

Bekah has been attending home births since 2008 and started her private practice in 2013.

Rebekah, a former ballet/contemporary dancer and yoga teacher, began teaching prenatal yoga in 2004 when she was pregnant with her first baby. Her yoga students were amazed that she was able to breastfeed, wear a cloth diapered baby in a sling and demonstrating a vinyasa flow and make it look “so easy”. They wanted to learn what she (in her 20s at that time seemed to naturally know about being a mother) She quickly became the go to childbirth educator, and doula in her community, helping thousands of women navigate the spiritual, emotional and of coarse physical journey towards motherhood through classes, workshops, and talks and attending them in labor. You could say Midwifery found her, as both mothers and babies continually sought her support over the years which eventually led her to more trainings and ultimately midwifery school. Bekah was raised an only child raised by a holistically minded stay at home mom and attended private Christian K-8 before graduating from an all girls Catholic preparatory High School before attending the BFA Dance program at CalARTS in Valenica. For her, being a midwife is being a “professional mother” and she comes from a family of women who dedicated themselves to being wives and mothers FIRST. This is what GOD ultimately created us to do.

Bekah has dedicated the last 20 years to nurturing and supporting mothers and their precious babies through the journey of pregnancy and childbirth. From 2012 to 2015, she served on The California Association of Midwives board, lobbying at the State Capitol along side Sarah Davis and Constance Rock who accomplished the successfully passing AB1308, legislation that allows Licensed Midwives to practice autonomously without physician supervision. They filled the halls of the State Capitol with mothers breastfeeding and strollers, the legislators were not happy but the LMs freed ourselves from physician oversight and ultimately set the groundwork for Nurse Midwives to stand up to physician oppression as well.

In addition to these contributions to midwifery, Bekah is a dedicated clinical preceptor for various midwifery schools, sharing her knowledge and experiences with aspiring midwives. She stands firm that we not only need ‘“more midwives’ but also that midwifery education must not lose its essence as a WISE WOMAN tradition. She also offers specialized advanced doula and birth assistant courses, giving others the tools they need to support families during this transformative time. Bekah’s clinical training took place before the law change in 2013, which afforded her the unique opportunity to attend numerous vaginal breech, vaginal twins and of coarse VBACs.

One of the most cherished highlights of Bekah’s journey as a midwife was the distinct honor and privilege of attending homebirths alongside one of the most renowned OB/GYNs in Northern California, Dr. Anne Marie Adams, for an invaluable period of 5 years. As a new midwife, having such a gifted OB as your birth assistant and being offered the incredible opportunity to assist her during breech and twin births profoundly shaped the midwife Bekah has become today. She is the first one to tell you that her years of experience as a homebirth midwife means absolutely nothing and she can take zero credit for being present for witnessing God’s miracle. Birth is supposed to work without anyone there! People have been on the planet since the beginning of time. Every birth is different and every mother deserves to be held with unconditional loved and without bias. A truly skilled midwife doesn’t bring her “experience” to a birth but is fully present and able to ask herself “what does THIS moment need?” A truly skilled midwife is nothing more than a humble servant.

Bekah believes that our bodies are meant to birth and that food is our first medicine. She aims to help women trust their ability to give birth and care for their children through faith in Jesus.

Tara Gomez, LM CPM

Tara describes becoming a mother as truly life-changing and deeply rewarding. She didn’t expect midwifery to impact her so profoundly and require a complete transformation. Her heart is full of love and gratitude for the privilege of caring for her six children. As a mother to three boys and three girls, Having gained significant personal experience you might think her interest in birth work stems from her own challenges, but she genuinely felt called to this work at her core, a calling that existed even before becoming a mother and cannot be taken away.

In 2008, Tara started her training with Heart and Hands Midwifery as a doula and home birth assistant. By her tenth year, she had supported nearly 600 mothers in hospitals but felt she couldn’t fully help those who couldn’t make informed choices. In 2018, she continued her training with Elizabeth Davis and joined the National Midwifery Institute. Since then, she’s learned through traditional apprenticeships with experienced midwives, gaining insights into the unique care provided by independent midwives. Tara is dedicated to preserving midwifery knowledge in our community now and in the future. She graduated from midwifery school and became a Licensed Midwife in 2024.

Lauren Grace, Birth Assistant, CD (DONA)

I was born and raised in El Dorado Hills, Ca. I am a wife and a mama to a sweet little boy. It was my son’s birth that fueled my desire to become a Doula and Birth Assistant. After having an extremely complicated pregnancy, I knew that working with babies and their Mamas (Dadas and partners, too) was exactly what I wanted to do. Working with babies and children is something I have wanted to explore since an incredibly young age. I graduated college with a degree focused in dental care and an emphasis in pediatrics. Naturally, I have always been a caretaker of others, with a strong passion for ensuring a safe and supportive place for all families to lean on.

I am a DONA International trained and certified Birth Doula with additional education in breastfeeding and childbirth. I am currently pursuing a Birth Assistant certification from the Northwest Birth Assistant Training Program. As your Doula and Birth Assistant, I will be your biggest cheerleader and support system. My role is to provide any non-medical comfort measures, support and assistance to the midwife. This support may take a form of physical comfort measures such as helping you breathe through each contraction, gentle soothing massage, counter pressure, assisting with water therapy, hand holding, positional support and recommendations that may help you through each stage of labor.

I chose to become a Doula and Birth Assistant for the sole purpose of being able to support other mothers in the beautiful process of bringing a child into this world. Through it all I will be there for you. I will care for you and be a continuous source of comfort. There is nothing is more important than to know that you are loved and supported. Experiencing you in the realest and rawest moments in your life through my own eyes, I have truly found my passion. I have been assisting Crown since 2019.
